P. S. In honor of tomorrow’s May Day, here’s a shot taken of my mom with a couple of her friends and my aunties and cousins at one of my May Day celebrations at Paia School. Starting from the lady in the green flower muu muu wearing her papale (hat) is my mom Dorothy with my cousin Liza in her lap then my Auntie Babo holding Liza’s brother Scott in her lap and then my Auntie Carmen (also wearing a papale) with cousin Brenda in her lap and my cousin Kevin (Brenda’s brother) in front of her. I can’t remember the names of the two ladies on the left of my mom. May Day is a big celebration at the schools here complete with a May Day Court with a King and Queen and Princes and Princesses representing all the Hawaiian Islands. All students from every grade perform dances for the Court, family and friends that visit for the day. All this capped off by a luau lunch. 🙂
